urban adventures to (re)present our habitat
Hello! And welcome to Group 9 for the Urban Story Degrees of London exploration. We'll be walking from Chingford (taken from this map) in south-east London to Ye Olde Cock Tavern on Fleet Street.
We're going to use this group to decide when and where we're going to meet, our route, and ideas about what we're going to record during the day.

Comment by Hilary Orange on March 5, 2012 at 23:06 Okay, thanks Tim. Again you're very welcome. I'll drop you a line on Friday to give you an outline of the route. See you on Saturday - it's going to be fun!
Comment by Tim Gill on March 5, 2012 at 22:49 Hi Hilary. The Pantry, 10:30 sounds fine. I can't make your meeting, but I'm happy to go with the majority view. By the way, you can glean a bit more about my interest in cities from my website - see eg these posts.
Comment by Hilary Orange on March 5, 2012 at 21:21 Hi Tim, welcome to Group 9! We decided to go for coffee rather than plastic owl so we're meeting at a cafe near the Station, The Pantry, at no.50 Station Rd @10.30am. Is that time okay for you? The route hasn't been decided yet but myself, Charlotte, Joe and Kirsty are all UCL affiliated. So we've arranged to meet this Thursday at the Farmer's Market @Birkbeck to chat over the route. That's lunchtime, meeting at 12.30. Be brill if you could join us, if not please do let us know any thoughts you have on the route (which can factor in coffee/cake/beer - this is important). See you Saturday! Hilary

Comment by Hilary Orange on February 24, 2012 at 21:39 wikipedia tells me that Chingford railway station has a plastic owl underneath the canopy of platform 2 to scare away non-plastic birds. seems like a kitsch starting point to me.
