urban adventures to (re)present our habitat
Hello! And welcome to Group 9 for the Urban Story Degrees of London exploration. We'll be walking from Chingford (taken from this map) in south-east London to Ye Olde Cock Tavern on Fleet Street.
We're going to use this group to decide when and where we're going to meet, our route, and ideas about what we're going to record during the day.

Comment by Tim Gill on March 11, 2012 at 12:32 Hi all. Great walk yesterday. Lovely to meet you all. Have mapped the route using walkit.com. Here's the link: http://tinyurl.com/7vsp39b. Reckons it's 12.3 miles altogether. Felt like longer!
Thanks for the recipe Joe.
Comment by Joe Flatman on March 11, 2012 at 9:44 Okay, what we drank was:
Blackthorn - for each drink, mix 20ml each of sloe gin, dry gin, bourbon or whisky (I used bourbon) and martini rosso + 10ml of amontillado sherry over ice.
And what we ate was:
chocolate oatmeal cake - 30ml corn oil; 60ml low fat yogurt; 140g apple sauce; 1 egg; 80g plain flour; 20g wholemeal plain flour; 90g light brown sugar; 3/4 teaspoon baking powder; 3/4 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda; 1/4 teaspoon of salt; 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon; pinch of nutmeg; 60g 'jumbo' oats; 80g milk chocolate =, cut into small chunks
preheat oven to 180C / 350F and line a loaf tin with baking parchment
mix oil, yogurt, apple sauce and eggs in a jug
mix all other ingredients in a bowl
mix wet ingredients into dry and stir until combined
pour mixture into loaf tin and bake for c. 20-30 mins until a cake tester/knife emerges clean when poked into cake
Comment by Chris Parker on March 9, 2012 at 17:09 Hi Tim, Hi Hilary and All, I've just joined and checking we're still starting from The Pantry at 10:30? Interesting site Tim thanks. My interest is around GeoVation's current challenge
Comment by Tim Gill on March 9, 2012 at 16:23 Hi Hilary - thanks, sounds good. I'll fish out my walking boots and see you tomorrow.
Comment by Hilary Orange on March 9, 2012 at 16:00 Hi Tim,
Some of us met at lunchtime to discuss the route. The plan as the moment is to follow the Lea Valley footpath south to Springfields Park, then veer off in a south-westerly direction through Stamford/Stokey/Islington. Then we'll be southward bound to Fleet Street.
See you tomorrow, Hilary
