urban adventures to (re)present our habitat
Hello and welcome to Group 4 for the Urban Story Degrees of London exploration. We're going to be walking from Terminal 5 of Heathrow Airport (taken from this map) West of London to Ye Olde Cock Tavern on Fleet Street.
We're going to use this group to decide when and where we're going to meet, our route and share some ideas on what we're going to record during the day.
Location: Heathrow Airport!
Members: 5
Latest Activity: Mar 10, 2012
It strikes me that the ideal start point would be the T5 Arrivals Hall. We can get coffee, chat a bit, and watch people arriving into the country for a while before we set off.
This group does not have any discussions yet.

Just had a quick chat with Nigel, let's go for meeting at/by Costa in T5 Arrivals at 10.30. That gives us about 7 hours to get to Fleet St which should be plenty.
My only plan for the route is to walk through to T3 then pick up the road outside which is pretty straight as far as Hammersmith. perhaps when we get to the end of the flyover we can decide the rest of the route together...
Weather's looking good, 10 degrees to start, rising to 15 by mid afternoon.

Logged on after being away for a few days intending to set up a group starting at Heathrow T5 to find that you beat me to it James - excellent work!
It's the obvious starting point and as you say, arrivals can be the key theme - particularly if we can try and stay close to the M4/A4 for much of the route.
Aim for 9.30/10am at the airport, with time for a coffee and observation in the airport before setting off?
Looking forward to it, Andy
Comment by James Dixon on February 23, 2012 at 15:52 Actually, looking at arriving as a theme is feeling interesting... we can walk via Victoria Coach station and maybe a couple of other stations on the way...
Comment by James Dixon on February 23, 2012 at 8:45 Hi All.
So, we have a few things to decide... Like what time you want to set off? What route? And what do you want to do on the way?
I'd like to spend a bit of time at the airport before setting off, plus I'd like to get down under Hammersmith flyover on the way...
